"A nation's culture resides in the hearts and in the soul of its people" Ladyhill Victoria Composite P. U. College organized Ethnic day for the first time on 14th September 2024 at 9AM for all students in the PUC auditorium.
In the era of modernization and westernization when most of the people are moving away from their own culture and history, events like Ethnic day enable the young generation to revive love and respect for their own culture and history. And an innate desire to dress up, look good and feel great was also accomplished through this event.
The programme rose it's curtains with a prayer followed by a short welcome dance. There were a total of four competition held on the day. After welcoming the everyone present, began the first competition, Ramp walk which was based on the drapes of India that is, diverse saree styles from each and every corner of the country. All the students were oozing with confidence, style and grace.
At 10.30AM the competitions like Rangoli and Pookalam were held in the auditorium while Mehendi competition was held in the language room. The participants spent a lot of time designing and finishing their pieces even if it looks effortless.
‘There are moments you can't put into words. Just decorate it with henna'. The seemingly effortless mehendi designs of all were intricate and stunning. This was a great platform for the showcase of some of the brilliant creativity in the art of Pookalam and Rangoli. The intricate patterns and vibrant colors that were chosen truly bring it to life. The art not only showcases the creativity of students but also reflects a beautiful cultural tradition. It adds such a warm and festive atmosphere to the space.
Shoutout to the student co-ordinators Ayishathul Reema and Fathima Shaziya and every other person involved in planning and conducting such a wonderful program. The day served as a great platform to bring out the artist in all the students. It also highlights the beauty and importance of our culture. All the students were cheerfully engaged the whole day.
